CS371p Spring 2022: Week 12

  1. What did you do this past week? I worked with my partner a good amount this past week to finish up Darwin. I also worked a lot to finish up a graphics project that was due on the same day as Darwin. In class, we went over iterators on Monday. On Wednesday and Friday, we did exercises to implement vector.
  2. What’s in your way? It doesn’t seem like there’s too much going on this week, which is great news for me because I’ve been extremely busy with all my CS classes for the past two weeks.
  3. What will you do next week? I will go to class and also review the notes before class. I will keep my eyes out for the next project.
  4. What did you think of Paper 12. Why extends is evil? I actually liked this paper a lot. It was clear and the reasoning they used against using extends was logical. I will try to take this advice to heart for future programming.
  5. What was your experience of iteration, initializations, and vector? I think we went over iteration and vectors briefly in the beginning of the semester but it was helpful to go over them again. I think I need to review the different types of initializations/constructors used for each type of initialization because I struggled to remember the correct syntax for the HackerRanks this week.
  6. What made you happy this week? Yesterday I went to a barge party that one of my friends invited me to and it was the first barge that I’ve been on. It was a pretty good time! Afterwards at night, some people who I used to talk to more in freshman year held a kickback at their apartment and that was also quite fun.
  7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week? This might be super specific because I don’t know if it works on other phones, but I have an Android and I’ve downloaded the Wall Street Journal app but haven’t paid for the subscription because it’s pretty expensive. However, I still get notifications for major headlines, so it’s a good way to passively see what’s going on without paying!
